Intercultural pedagogical meeting at the Rosario University of Colombia and the University of Bío-Bío, Chile: “Hearing Health in the Pediatric Population.”

Abstract

During the first semester of 2022, a COIL (Online
International Collaboration) experience was developed between
the Speech Therapy programs of the University of Bío-Bío
(Chile) and the University of Rosario (Colombia), in the context
of the courses "Auditory Intervention I" and "Communication
and Hearing I." The objective was to strengthen academic and
cultural competencies through the collaborative design of an
audiovisual resource focused on the promotion and prevention
of children's hearing health. Through a structured schedule,
students organized binational teams, shared regulatory
background, designed educational materials, and participated in
cross-evaluations. The activity culminated with a synchronous
socialization where the best works were highlighted. Of the 58
participating students (98% of the total), more than 90%
expressed high satisfaction with the experience. The main
difficulty was coordinating schedules due to differences in
academic loads and institutional calendars, evidenced by a lower
level of satisfaction (75.9%) in the time management item. This
initiative demonstrated the potential of international
collaborative work to promote meaningful, ethical, and
culturally relevant learning in the field of speech therapy.
