Technological expansion and cognitive habits pose a challenge to intellectual autonomy, making it necessary to examine the foundations of thought. This essay analyzes the mind through the conceptual framework proposed by Mariano Sigman in The Se cret Life of the Mind, integrating contributions from neuroscience, psychology, and the history of thought. It briefly examines the philosophical and scientific roots that have shaped the modern understanding of the brain, placing Sigman within a broader c ontext. Methodological tensions and critiques of neurocentric reductionism are discussed. Finally, the essay reflects on the value of thought and cognitive responsibility.
